The Executive Masters programmes are offered through two modes of delivery namely; fully online and, traditional classroom / workshop delivery at our main teaching site in Aberystwyth.

Who is it for?
The programme is designed specifically for candidates that are currently strategic leaders with senior management responsibility, which may include formal governance/director responsibilities. Candidates’ responsibilities may include setting strategy, direction and vision, providing a clear sense of purpose and driving strategic intent.

Global Executive MBA (EMBA) – N1835
Executive Master of Management (EMMgt) – N1836

As a candidate on the Executive Masters programme, you will study the latest management theory and acknowledged best practice in areas such as leadership, strategic operations, corporate governance and sustainability.

The study of financial analysis and decision making emphasises the use of financial and accounting data to inform and improve strategic decisions and operations.

The coverage of business economics provides the foundations for business decisionmaking across a range of functional areas.

The programmes culminate in the completion of a practical capstone project in which you apply your new knowledge to address an organisational or industry issue or challenge.

The Executive Masters programme employs a number of different teaching strategies depending on the mode of study:

Facilitated discussion groups focussed upon the evaluation of strategic solutions and analysis of their application into various business environments
seminar sessions delivered by expert business leaders identifying real-life business problems, challenges and opportunities with follow up discussions around how best practice was developed and embedded into their businesses
small group teamworking exercises where candidates work together to propose effective business solutions to given scenarios where due consideration needs to be given to economic, financial and resource issues
Academic surgeries focusing upon improving your academic thinking and writing skills.
Distance learning will be a blend of synchronous and asynchronous activities taught exclusively through our virtual learning platform.

The Learning Environment

Aberystwyth Business School’s teaching staff will create the environment in which practical learning can flourish and facilitate the sharing of experience and knowledge. We know that masters students are extremely busy people, however we expect students to invest time ‘outside class’ preparing for workshops, researching and writing assignments.

The teaching structure will facilitate critical evaluation and application of theories, concepts and models rather than simple description. The University’s virtual learning environment (VLE) will be used to facilitate this process.

Students will be encouraged to use the VLE to help them work independently and in groups, and will be supported academically by module tutors.

For those that study by Distance Learning, there will be a combination of synchronous (live, real time) activities and asynchronous (at a time of the student’s own choosing and at their own pace).

Module teaching will be time-bound to comply with on-campus teaching schedules.

Our Management Masters graduates have gone on to establish careers in a variety of companies such as Bloomberg, Standard Chartered Bank, Euler Hermes, SAP and Legal & General. Our alumni are senior managers in the public and private sectors or run their own businesses or consultancies.

The reflective and reflexive skills learned on the programme allow students to better evaluate their personal and professional wants and needs. We find that students are better equipped to plan their careers. We offer one-to-one professional career guidance, and additional coaching from an accredited 360-degree leadership development coach is also available on request.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications or Professional Experience
A good Honours degree (or its equivalent) and a minimum of
three years’ relevant experience in a people or project leadership/
management role, plus satisfactory references from your employer or
university.
English Language Requirements
If you have a Bachelors degree from a UK University, you do not need
to take an English proficiency test.
Non-native English speakers who do not meet this requirement must
obtain IELTS 6.0 or take a University-recognised test of academic
English language proficiency.
