About University of Worcester
Welcome to the University of Worcester.
The University of Worcester is the one university in the city of Worcester and the surrounding county of Worcestershire in the United Kingdom. It acquired university status by the granting of a Royal charter in September 2005, having previously been known as University College Worcester, and prior to that as Worcester College of Higher Education.
The university is home to resident applied theatre company called C&T, the professional basketball team The Worcester Wolves, and 6 national research centres, including:
The National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit (NPARU) from where all UK national pollen forecasts originate, and testing of new hayfever and anti-allergen devices is conducted.
- The Centre for Rural Research, which examined the psychological effects of the mass flooding in the UK in recent years.
- The International Centre for Children’s Literature, Literacy and Creativity is the only UK university centre to employ two full time Childrens Literature Professors.

The University of Worcester has received the highest increase in applications of any UK University over the last 5 years as reported by The Sunday Times and The Independent newspapers.
